In keeping with my 2023 theme of frequently moving the needle (to improve things, and myself), here is a guide on what to hopefully expect here this year.
Unless it is very probably interesting or relatable to a lot of people, complaints I have about anything here will be reduced to zero. I feel like this has been more of a blog about why it’s not a good blog, which is just cringe-inducing. That will stop.
Recognizing my time constraints—which seem to grow inexorably—expect small, light, fluffy offerings for the indefinite future. Longer form articles will be rarer, but nice surprises.
I will try very hard to stick to the Thursday schedule, as I am now. Sometimes it just sneaks up on me, but there will be something!
More tech nostalgia. Expect more of it, if only in limited amounts for the indefinite future. But I still like doing that and with any luck hope to expand on it.
Something new and different, if only new and different for me. New and different keeps the mind sharp. Not sure exactly what form this will take, but I have a few ideas.
Positivity. 2023 is probably not going to be a great year, but I think it might be better than last, and with some effort, it can be a lot better than last. I will endeavor to infuse more positivity into my writing moving forward. I’ll just say I am cautiously hopeful and would like to ride this small positivity wave as long as I can.
More photos—amateur photography taken from my phone with a few comments.
And more engagement with the Substack community. I will try to broaden my Substack horizons and more often engage with the commenters and writers here. This is mostly for selfish reasons, but what isn’t? This may result in more critiques of other articles and writers on Substack.
For tech nostalgia today…
Just a quick one. Redditor GNanting posted a couple photos of his Tandy 1000 on r/retrobattlestations:
While this is a little late for the holidays, it’s too good not to share:
So much more goodies in that subreddit.
Happy Thursday!
